Kaitlyn & Johnathon’s Glamorous Winter Wedding | Emerson at Plum, Macon, Georgia

From the moment we first connected with Kaitlyn, we knew her wedding would be unforgettably fun! She and Johnathon made all the right decisions when selecting entertainment, food and beverage, and travel conveniences in order to prioritize their guest experience. They pulled off an elegant black tie affair that embodied glamour and high-fashion.

– How long have you and Johnathon been together and how did you meet?

5 years – it was 2018 and we were both in our graduate program for occupational therapy and physical therapy. One of my sorority sisters was in the same program with Johnathon, and asked if I would be interested in meeting him because she thought we would get along. So we met in a group setting with another guy from their program (Niko) and had the best time at Downtown Drafts in Gainesville, GA. Fast forward 4 years and Niko was actually the one who officiated our wedding!

– How did Johnathon pop the question?

His mom set up a beautiful display of white lace, candles, and flowers in between the pine trees at their family farm. Johnathon and I spent the day going to lunch and shopping around his hometown. When we returned to the farm, he said his mom needed us to change the battery in a deer camera. That’s when he led me to the display and got down on one knee. One of my lifelong best friends was actually hiding in the deer blind taking photos!

– When it came to planning your wedding, what was most important to you?

That everyone had fun! We both said the two things we wanted most was a live band and an open bar so that everyone could have a great time! We didn’t want our wedding to be one of those that people are slipping out after dinner. We had a great turn out and no one left until the dance floor closed at 11:30!

– What did your planner do on the day of the wedding that you didn’t expect or know about until the day was over?

They took BTS photos and videos from the entire day and then sent me a shared album with all of that content the day after our wedding. I was so surprised and was so excited to see some of those moments recorded while we waited on our photographer to deliver her gallery.

– If you could provide a tip to another couple planning their wedding, what would it be?

Look at all options/vendors closely before making any decisions!! And if you have any concerns, consult with your coordinator/planner because they know the ins and outs of this stuff!

– Tell us about your gown and your dress shopping experience

Essence of Australia was my designer. I tried on eight other gowns before I tried on my wedding dress. And every gown I came out and I would always say, “Well it’s pretty, but I don’t know how I should feel?” I was starting to get discouraged because I didn’t know if I was supposed to feel more excited. With every dress I tried on, I became more and more disheartened. My sisters picked up my mood, and immediately started searching the store. They found a dress and stuck it in my dressing room. I told the girl helping me that I would try it on just because they picked it out. A soon as i walked out in it I started smiling so wide! And then they added the veil and handed me flowers and I became so overwhelmed with joy I started crying. I felt so beautiful!

What did your planner do on the day of the wedding that you didn’t expect or know about until the day was over?
