Gabrielle & Morgan’s Atlanta Winter Wedding
at Druid Hills Country Club
As the seasons start to change, we’re thrilled about cooler temperatures and sharing one of our favorite holiday season weddings from last Winter! Meet Gabrielle and Morgan — one of the sweetest, kindest couples we know! They hosted their Winter nuptials last year at Cathedral of Christ the King in Atlanta and hosted their beautiful reception at Druid Hills Country Club. We loved being their Wedding Coordinators and have since helped one of their siblings say “I do!” as well. We’re excited to share a little about Gabrielle and Morgan’s wedding day, from this one-on-one interview with the bride.
Meet Gabrielle, the bride
- I want to talk about all the elements of your beautiful wedding, but first tell us a little bit about how you and Morgan became engaged.
Morgan knew how much I love to hike in the western North Carolina mountains. Little did I know that he was listening to me when I told him, my favorite hike was up the bald granite face of Old Bald, a mountain that overlooks an all girls camp I grew up going to. Camp Merrie Woode was a place that helped shape who I became as a woman, and it is where I met one of my best friends for life, Ciele. We were at my family’s lake house on Lake Keowee the weekend after Thanksgiving 2021. Morgan and I both knew we wanted to go on a hike that weekend. I kept telling him since we finally have this free time up here we should do a big hike in Asheville since we have the time to drive farther. He kept telling me he wanted to go hike Old Bald because he knew that it was a shorter hike and he knew how sentimental it was for me. I was oblivious to his ulterior motives haha. As we were driving up to the mountains Morgan kept talking about bear attacks and rambling, which he does when he is nervous. I thought to myself something might be up. We got to the top of the mountain and when I turned back around, Morgan was down on one knee holding a ring. I blacked out but remember Morgan said, “He would be the happiest and luckiest guy in the world if I said yes.”. I said, “a thousand times yes”. Little did I know that Morgan had planned a surprise dinner with both of our families in Highlands at the Old Edwards Inn that night, and his whole family was en route. We had the most special post engagement dinner in the wine cellar at the Old Edwards Inn.
- Y’all are adorable! So when it came to planning the wedding, what was most important to you?
The readings and the religious aspect was the most important to me. Then the music was important to me.
- How would you describe your wedding style?
Elegant and classic / timeless.
- What did you stress over the most during your planning process? Did it end up being a concern on your wedding day?
I stressed out about things not coming together and everything ended up coming together beautifully.
- You had great vendors taking care of you! Alright, what are your top memories or moments from the day?
1) Our wedding ceremony was something so special and something I will never forget. It was so perfect and magical in a way. 2) Our first dance. Felt like I was truly on cloud nine. 3) My memories with my parents, and brother before the ceremony.
- I love those. Alright, lastly if you could give a tip to another bride planner her wedding, what’s your wedding advice?
Be organized, quick to make decisions, and try to stay ahead of time because things will creep up last minute. Try not to stress about the details because everything will come together.
